Antique Mount Washington Cameo Glass Brides Basket Bowl 8
Stunning cameo glass bowl by Mount Washington Glass Co. Beautifully etched detailed cameos, floral sprays and ribbons circle this bowl with scalloped edge. This bowl may have been paired with a silver plated brides basket holder. It is still quite lovely on its own.
7 3/4 across and approx. The foot is 3 3/4 diameter. It displays very well but does have a hairline crack and a repair as pictured (last 4 photos). The repairs are quite good and are extremely hard to detect except with magnification. They did not show up well in our photos so we've circled the affected areas in the photos.
We see no chips or other damage beyond those two areas. There are a couple of slightly rough spots on the rim. Examined under 10X magnification, these are not chips but rather they appear to be grinding marks from production. The bowl needs a good cleaning. There is significant shelf wear on the underside of the bowl commensurate with its age. It is unsigned but this design shows up in many reference books about Mt. It is a heavy piece of glass 2 lbs.
