1920s by Master Verrier Charles Schneider (18811962). Blown glass mottled/ground overlaid with citrus/orange changing to cobalt blue at the top. The upper layer is acid etched and wheel carved.
He glass is internally streaked in a quite subtle citrus/ burnt orange overlaid in a vibrant indigo cut design. It has a wide rectangular opening with broad sloping shoulders which tapers downward to a flat base. On the base you can see the the tri color (red, white and blue) candy cane mark known as the Berlingot signature which is from his earlier works. The cane mark is also representative of the French flag. Charles Schneider was born in Chateau-Thierry, near Paris, on 23rd February 1881. Condition: Very Good Vintage, commensurate with age. No chips, cracks or repairs. Light signs of surface wear, and surface variations; and wear/marks to underside or base. Any other imperfections are what you typically find in handmade pieces as a result of the original manufacturing process. Dimensions: 4" h x 7 1/4" l x 4 w. Hallmarked: Yes, authentic Le Verre Francais mark.Prominent candy cane signature mark to the base (as shown) embedded in the surface of the base.
