CHARLES SCHNEIDER FRENCH CAMEO GLASS HOUX PINK & YELLOW 7 JARDINIERE VASE 1920S. CHARLES SCHNEIDER FRENCH CAMEO GLASS HOUX PINK & YELLOW 7 ART DECO JARDINIERE VASE 1920'S. This one is in Excellent Condition with No Chips No Cracks No Fleabites, Very nice cameo glass jardiniere vase by Charles Schneider of Nancy France in the Houx pattern. Exterior of an art deco holly design carved back to a pink ground. The bottom and rim have a wide yellow band.
It has a wide rectangular opening with broad sloping shoulders which tapers downward to a flat base. On the base you can see the the tri color (red, white and blue) candy cane mark known as the Berlingot signature which is from his earlier works. The cane mark is also representative of the French flag. Charles Schneider was born in Chateau-Thierry, near Paris, on 23rd February 1881.
At an early age he moved with his family to Nancy, the artistic centre of France, where he later studied at. Arts an influential school of fine arts. He was a talented student and he used his abilities to engrave medals using his own designs. After his military service, from 1901 to 1902, he specialized in the art of glass and stone sculpture.
