Emile GALLE Nancy 1846 Nancy 1904 Industrialist, master glassblower, cabinet-maker, ceramist After several apprenticeships in various European cities, Weimar and Meisenthal amongst others, Emile Gallé became a partner at his fathers glass and faience decoration business in 1867... Emile Gallé was honored at the 1889 Paris World Fair with three rewards for his ceramics, glasswork, and furniture. Unfortunately, and to the great regret of Emile Gallé, ceramic work was no longer popular amongst the public, thus he oriented his focus to glasswork, a domain in which he developed and created new fabrication procedures. Flowers are gorgeous in person and equally beautiful when depicted on Gallé (Galle) vases. This example is no exception. The color is lovely and the workmanship is very careful and precise. The gorgeous art nouveau cameo glass is frosted ground tinted yellow gold to amber opalescent ground mold-blown and etched to feature blossoming pink vine (possibly clematis) flowers on trailing branches, with cameo signature near the bottom to the side of the vase in green. 5.5 inches tall with a 1 5/8 inch top rim diameter and 2.75 inch base diameter. Due to its antique timeline, light signs of previous use and ownership needs to taken into consideration - mint and in clean condition! Will display beautifully in your Cabinet!
