It has a maximum width of about 5 3/4 inches. Unpacked, it weighs 5 pounds 2.9 ounces. This piece has elegant, art nouveau style decoration of flowers and leaves; I do not know what type of flowers they are. The flat base has a central, round, ground pontil area. This vase would be a beautiful addition to a collection of art glass. Identification The vase is marked on its lower side, Machin. The exact age is not known, but it is believed to be vintage or antique, in the art nouveau style. The origin is not known, but it may be French. There were many minor / lesser known cameo glass makers during the early 20th century who competed with major manufacturers such as Daum and Galle.
This old piece is from a San Francisco Bay area estate. Condition The vase looks good overall, with no chips or cracks. It has light wear, with some scuffing to the base and a few scattered metal marks elsewhere. There are some minor as-made flaws, as is common for pieces produced by smaller cameo glass manufacturers. To the interior of the rim, there is a small raised disturbance in the glass, possibly from being grabbed by the glassblower's tool (see Photo 10).
Near the bottom edge, there is a bubble inside the glass (see Photo 11). There are some areas where the purple glass layer was not completely cut back (example shown in Photo 9). There are minor surface texture irregularities from the acid etching process. Payments must be received within three days of the end of the listing, unless prior arrangements have been made.
