Orient Flume EARLY 1977 Kathy Orme Cameo Vase Art Glass Fish Swimming Seaweed. Kathleen (Kathy) Orme was one of the early artists brought in to "carve" through iridescent layers to reveal or leave (depending on the design) wonderful nature designs and in this case even a border.
This bowl was blown with a subtle undulation of the top emulating gentle waves - then through the paperweight method enhanced with trailings of reddish brown "seaweed" and light green lily pads (see them by looking through the inside), then an iridescent layer was added. After annealing, Kathy cut through the the blue iriscene layer, leaving her wonderful fish, seaweed and a border. We have included images in natural light and in incandescent light. Kathleen Orme also had her own studio.
We may list some of her own exquisite cameo glass work later. Size: 3 3/4 tall; 5: diameter. Signature: "Orient & Flume C J 1 1977 Kathy Orme". Condition: No chips, no cracks. See all our other listings here.
