Original Kelsey Murphy/Pilgrim Cameo Glass "World" Vase Sculpture 12 Diam , Signed & dated. Details: This incredible World Vase Sculpture by Kelsey Murphy was a commissioned art work by R. The vibrant blue hand-blown glass is deeply cameo cut (sandblasted) into the globe, incising all the countries, islands and major lakes of the world as well as the latitude and longitude lines in a incredible display of artistry. Unlike smaller cameo works of art, the immense size and luminous color of this work makes it an incredible example of Kelsey's artistry.
When you see this vase sculpture from across the room, it glows such an intense blue that it attracts you closer to its presence. Kelsey Murphy is a world renown cameo glass artist.
All her work is hand-blown, hand-carved and collected worldwide. Cameo Glass carving has a two thousand year old glass legacy, and the amazing developments in West Virginia by Kelsey Murphy (and Bob Bomkamp) at the now closed Pilgrim glass took the development of cameo glass to a level never before achieved in the history of glass. Pilgrim ceased production in 2001. Kelsey Murphy could not stop creating her art and continues to train and teach glass artists at several factories in West Virginia. Owens is an award manufacturing company that creates the Oscar®, Emmy®, Golden Globe® and many other made in America awards. Prior to acquisition by another company, R. Owens had commissioned Kelsey to create this amazing original work of art for their exclusive art glass line. Owens had only ordered about 10 globes prior to discontinuing this art glass line which makes this a very rare piece. This 12 diameter World Vase Sculpture is signed: Kelsey/Pilgrim for R. Condition: This rare 12 diameter World art glass vase sculpture is in very good condition.There are no surface issues that we are aware of. There are some scratches on the bottom caused by our cleaning service. Regrettably, they placed it on a wooden table and moved it around, turning it while they cleaned it.
This is the only issue. There are some reflections caused from photography in the photos, they are not defects. Please ask questions and study the pictures carefully, they are part of the description. Size : 11½" tall x 12" Diameter.
