PAUL NICOLAS FRENCH CAMEO ART GLASS BOWL, EARLY 20TH CENTURY. In peach colored glass, overlaid with rose amethyst, cut with the design of stylized rosette. Diameter 7.25 inches (18.3 cm). Paul Nicolas was a master glass maker, artist and leading light of the Ecole De Nancy.
He worked for Emile Galle (and later his son-in-law at the Establissements Galle) until just after the First World War, ultimately as their chief designer. He later set up his own workshop making cameo glass for St Louis, under the brand name DArgental and also making glass under his own name.
At the Great Paris World Exhibitions Paul Nicolas was awarded Bronze in 1900, Silver in 1925 and Gold in 1937. Most likely, I do still have that item. Most of my items are from 30 to 150 years old. They will not look new.
