Antique LEGRAS Signed VASE. RUBIS LINE. Cameo Etched Enameled Glass. 14H. 1875
The acid-etched ruby leaves and vines, in cameo, encircle the vase atop frosted glass. Vase of the Legras Rubis Line.
Imported to New York by the Ovington Brothers. Signed LEGRAS on the exterior, lower half of vase. Hallmarked on bottom: OVINGTON NEW YORK FRANCE. Denis Glassworks and later took over the factory and founded Legras Glassworks. In 1866, Legras built an enormous factory to manufacture his glass.

The Ovington Brothers , great importers of expensive glassware, closed their 330 Fifth Avenue, Manhattan store and their 38 + 40 Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn, New York store on August 21, 1896.
