Miniature Daum Nancy Thistle Vase c1910

A small Daum vase decorated with thistles. Striated'Verre de Jade' with cameo thistles.

Triangular Daum nancy mark on the flank. The production of jade glass was quite intricate. In this case a gather clear glass was rolled on a marver in coloured powdered glass. A further cleat glass layer was added on top and in this case it was enamelled to depict the thistles. This design must have been extremely popular the first examples were produced c1895 but used a different cameo glass technique.
