A high compote or a tall footed rose bowl/vase probably made by a 1900s Italian glass company emulating the British glass works, Nailsea, famous for their art glass with looping/draping decoration. This tall striking piece has a hand blown foot and top and a large oval medallion set in the stem, all in grass green with opaque white glass loops draping around the three sections of the bowl. The oval medallion has beading around the edges and the bust of Jenny Lind in relief (cameo) on both sides.

This is a grand statement piece deserving of a place of honor in one's collection. It stands 11 1/2" high and is just over 6" at its widest. The foot is 4 1/4" diameter and the mouth 4 1/8". It weighs 2 lb 6 oz.

Jenny Lind was a Swedish opera singer, often called the "Swedish Nightingale". One of the most highly regarded singers of the 19th century, she performed in soprano roles in opera in Sweden and across Europe, and undertook an extraordinarily popular concert tour of the United States beginning in 1850 including 93 concerts for. At Jenny Lind's London début in 1847 at the Haymarket, she gave a performance so arresting that Queen Victoria threw a bouquet of flowers at her feet.
