Rare Vintage Charles Schneider Art Deco Cameo Glass Vase Dimpled Pinched Form
Charles Schneider Mottled (lemon) Yellow & Orange Art Glass Vase with Moss, and hues of cobalt Blue & White - Ca 1920s. Blown glass - yellow mottled ground with multiple colors as shown from bottom to top, making a textured exterior, with a smooth glass interior. Condition: Good Vintage condition, commensurate with age. Light surface wear, and surface variations; with wear/marks to underside edges / base, along with other imperfections typically found in handmade pottery pieces. Dimensions: 7 1/2" h x 4 1//2" w. Marked: No signature, but there is an extremely faint / illegible stenciled lettering or etched marking to the base (as best shown in final pic) worked into the design. Below the surface of the glass, not raised above the surface of the glass. An "O" and an "V" is best guess. Ovingtons", the "Brooklyn department store known from the 1880s for featuring fine and decorative art of the highest quality from around the globe. A number of Schneider Glass Vases were Made for Ovington, New York c1920s and they would acid etch "FRANCE OVINGTON" or "OVINGTON" to the base. The retailer Ovingtons were based in New York at 39th Street at the S. E corner of 5th Avenue. Charles Schneider designed a number of pieces for international retailers during the 1920s and 1930s. After the First World War the Verrerie Schneider released Le Verre Francais range which catapulted the glassworks from being a barely functioning factory to being one of the most successful art glass producers in the world.
