This is fantastic Luxury Cameo Art Glass at its highest most artistic creation, a real wow! A luxury form of glass art making produced by carving, etching or engraving molten glass through fused layers of differently colored glass to produce designs, usually with white opaque glass figures and motifs on a dark-colored background. The technique is first seen in R. Glass is fused onto layers of glass allowing designs and consistent and predictable colored layers, even for round objects. Galle is credited with being the pioneer of cameo glass, the process of fusing opaque glass with other colored pieces of carved glass. After his exhibit at the Paris Exhibition in 1878 the demand for and recognition of his art exploded. He went on to found the Art Nouveau movement known as the Ecole de Nancy. This theory of art still has an influence in French art today and is well respected by critics worldwide.
